Does anyone else get completely consumed by random interests every few months, or is it just me? One minute I’m living my life and the next I’m Googling ‘am I hurting my plants feelings’ at 3am. Here are the 5 hyperfixations barely saving my sanity.
1. Buying houseplants and giving them all names
First came Freddie the calathea freddie, then Minerva the nerve plant (I’m really fun at parties by the way). We’ve rapidly grown to a family of 10 in just a few months thanks to the power of online plant stores. Now I’m basically one bad day away from knitting all of them tiny scarves.
2. Building virtual mansions in The Sims 4 while my actual bedroom looks a crime scene.
Escapism is a lifestyle. My EA ID is rosiejrt if you really want to see all I can do when I’m avoiding my responsibilities. Go ahead, judge me if you dare!
3. Learning to declutter from a god fearing woman’s self help book
I may not follow her gospel, but I’m 100% taking notes on the chapter about ‘container theory.’ Do this woman and I have anything in common? Absolutely not, but this book will change my life for the better, dammit!
4. Finding the perfect signature perfume that will finally make me THAT BITCH
I have enough perfume samples in my nightstand to gag a drag queen. This is the first step towards becoming the bold, dangerous woman I’ve always pretended to be.
5. Coloring in a coloring book
Not just for elementary schoolers anymore! I was told coloring is one of those elusive “mindful” activities that would save my brain. So far all it’s done is make me hyper-aware of how often I color outside the lines. I’m currently working on this coloring book with the greatest markers in the world.
Because sharing is caring
For those who may want to join me in any of these hyperfixations, I’ve included links for your convenience! I hope I’ve thoroughly enabled you to find joy in your little passions too.
